Best Curly Hair Products

By Tina Bottle

You can't have the best curls possible without some kind of product. Everyone has different kinds of curls, so not all products are universally great. One might work for you but not another person.

There are big curls, little curls, medium curls, and tiny curls. All curls are different and all have different degrees of dryness. You have to experiment to find the product that works best for you because it might not be the same as the next person.

First, you need a good shampoo. Shampoo can really add to the dryness of your hair, so you must make sure you get the right one. Also, because it can be so drying, you should really cut back on your shampoos. Don't shampoo every time you wash. Shampoo every other time or once or twice a week. Get a shampoo designed for curly hair or a moisturizing shampoo.

Next, you will need to condition your hair. Conditioners like vo5 and suave are too thin and not strong enough for curly hair. Try to go for thicker conditioners like dove or garnier fructis. Your hair needs something that it can soak up. Leave it on for at least a minute or longer for extra moisturizing.

Always condition your hair every time you wash it. Concentrate more conditioner on the ends to get them extra moisturized because the ends are your oldest hair and usually the driest.

Conditioning is the most important step towards beautiful curly hair. Don't skip it! If your hair still feels dry, add a deep treatment into the mix. Use a deep conditioner at least once a month but as often as once a week for extra conditioning and moisturizing needs.

The next step is styling. You need to use styling products to get the best, bouncy curls. If you skip this step, you could end up with a frizzy mess. It doesn't matter what products you use, but you should start with a leave-in conditioner. This gives you the right amount of moisture throughout the day.

Finally, use a styling product that will cut back on the frizz and hold the curls in place. You should use either a gel or a mousse, and you can add a serum if you want for extra frizz control.
