What Must I Do to Lose Belly Fat?

By Roland du Preez

Imagine being able to lose belly fat, so that you finally can have a flat stomach, with toned abs. Sound impossible? You've tried everything but nothing seems to work? Well, if you have been doing 150 crunches per day, and you still can't see any result, I can tell you why. You are doing it the wrong way. Sorry, but that is the truth.

Our bodies are not made so that you can target one area of your body, and hope for that to be enough. This means you need to look at your body as a whole. If you are only doing crunches, you will never be able to lose your belly fat.

Exercise

Some ab exercises will do wonders for you. But don't get into a rut, and carry on with your millions of crunches. Try something new, like V-Sit, Bicycle Crunches, or Toe Raises. It's better to do exercises that work your core, as this involves more of your muscles. Since you are using more muscles, you are burning more fat.

Something else that is important for you to know is that muscle tissue burns much more fat that other tissue. So don't be afraid of using weights in your workout. Muscle tissue will even burn fat when resting. This means your belly fat will disappear.

Another important tool when losing weight is to get your heart rate up. Aim for 30 minutes of cardio every day. It doesn't necessarily mean going to gym every day. Do something different, like going for a walk in the morning, always talking the stairs, go swimming, etc.

Remember to exercise all your muscles, your body needs balance. This means that if you are only working your abs, your back will be out of balance. Give all your body parts a wake up call, and you will feel much better.

Food

If you eat lots of junk food and sweets, and drink a lot of sodas and beers, you will have your pot belly until the end of forever. Instead, educate yourself on what your body needs. There is no quick fix to a better looking body. So don't fall for any fad diets, or pills that will make you thin by tomorrow.

It's important to never starve your body, even if you are trying to lose weight. Instead, eat a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables, and lean meats, and drink a lot of water.

And don't forget to spoil yourself every now and then. If you deny yourself anything nice, it's very unlikely you will be able to keep it up.

Last but not least, be patient. The waist area is the last area your body will lose weight from. But if you don't give up, and stay determined to lose belly fat, will see good results soon.
